• Preparation of accounts and VAT returns of a few small clients, the main one being for construction of a new yacht to be registered in Malta.

Main focus in first two years with EY Malta has been providing audit services to: Manufacturing clients (Automotive, Currency, Electronics), Local dairy food supplier, Hotels based in Germany, an ERDF (EU) audit assignment.

Responsibilities:

• Testing Internal controls to verify effectiveness and performing Walkthrough's to confirm understanding of client's business processes.
• Developing and testing audit procedures relevant to high risk areas and test objectives.
• Applying technical skills learnt on the job and through formal training.
• Obtaining and reviewing evidence ensuring audit conclusions are well-documented.
• Ensuring audit conclusions reached on individual accounts are based on a complete understanding of the process, assigned risk and work performed.
• Timely communication of issues raised, internally offering recommended solutions relevant to the business
• Using data analytics to examine and evaluate trends in annual business performance and operating information
• Updating clients AML folders on an annual basis in line with EY AML policy.

Focus was on providing audit services to the financial services industry focusing on wealth & asset management, private equity, and a Channel Islands headquartered energy firm.

Wealth & asset management

• Audit of Level 1 Investments
• Liaising with GDS India by providing instructions through email and phone to ensure high-quality completion of work.
• Supervising and reviewing the work of audit junior staff members to finalize engagements in a cost-effective manner.
• Providing on-the-job coaching to first year associates on the substantive testing of significant and limited risk accounts.
• Communicating with client on a regular basis to obtain support and deal with audit issues as and when they arise.

Private Equity

• Issuing of dual audit opinion US GAAS and UK ISA.
• General supervision and liaison with overseas EY US team members to co-ordinate a complex audit to ensure delivery of a high-quality audit.
• Audited the Planning and Conclusion stages of a listed FTSE 250 audit client, ranging from corporate governance through to helping prepare the budget of the overall engagement.

Energy

• Proactively engage with key client management to gather information and dealt with audit issues as and when they arose.
• Managed and coached a team of junior staff members at the client’s premises performing walk-throughs and testing controls over revenue, purchases and payroll accounts.
