Work History

Managing Director

Paths Clinics
1 2018 - Current
  • I am the founder and managing director of two clinics specialising in the provision of professional psychological services
  • More information can be found on our website www.paths.care
  • I work together with a team of over 30 psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors and family therapists to meet the therapeutic needs of children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and organisations
  • Together we provide psychological support to hundreds of clients seeking psychotherapy and carry out psycho-educational talks as well as Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) for a number of organisations on the island
  • Our aim is to make psychotherapy as easily accessible and as cost effective as possible
  • Our large team allows us to provide clients with a number of therapists to choose from and gives us the ability to match clients with therapists based on personal preference, personality fit and the therapists' areas of expertise
  • We believe in timely access to psychological support and ensure that we offer clients an appointment within 1 week of initial contact
  • We carry out both face-to-face and online sessions allowing for more flexibility for clients

Self-Employed Clinical Psychologist & Gestalt Psychotherapist in Private Practice

Paths Clinics
07.2015 - Current
  • I carry out psychological interventions and psychotherapeutic work with adults presenting with issues of anxiety, depression, personality disorders, relationship difficulties, work stress and burnout and substance use and abuse.
  • My work also involves carrying out psychological assessments, psycho-educational talks, workshops and team building events.

Clinical Psychologist

Metropolitan Tribunal
03.2012 - 04.2018
  • I carried out psychological assessments, namely clinical interviews and personality tests for couples who applied for a marriage annulment through the Curia
  • My work here involved writing psychological reports based on the Acts and psychological assessments administered

Clinical Psychologist & Gestalt Psychotherapist

Foundation for Social Welfare Services
07.2012 - 07.2015
  • I engaged in psychological and psychotherapeutic work with children, adolescents and adults using an integrative therapeutic approach
  • In my work with children and adolescents I dealt mainly with issues related to challenging behaviour, substance misuse, past abuse and trauma, issues of bereavement, loss and bullying among other things
  • I also worked with adults having different presenting problems including issues related to substance use and abuse, domestic violence, past abuse and trauma as well as issues stemming from anxiety, mood and personality disorders
  • The responsibilities inherent within my role included conducting clinical interviews, carrying out psychological assessments, administering and interpreting psychological tests, developing theoretically informed treatment plans, engaging in direct therapeutic work with clients and writing psychological reports
  • I was also involved in the development of the Stimulants Clinic, a pilot project run by Agenzija Sedqa

Child care worker

St. Patrick's Residential Children Services
01.2007 - 03.2011
  • I worked as a child care worker at St Patrick's in Sliema, a Children's home which caters for boys aged between 9 and 16
  • My main tasks involved providing for the physical, emotional and educational needs of children coming from turbulent backgrounds and having emotional and/or behavioural difficulties
  • In our unit team, we took the initiative to implement and monitor individualised socio-educational programs for the six boys under our care
  • This involved working with other professionals including psychologists, psychotherapists, drama therapists, social workers and teachers with the aim of meeting these children's needs on a more holistic level
  • Moreover, because we understood how important it is for these boys to remain in contact with their biological parents, part of my job included communicating and building rapport with parents, to ensure that they remain present in the boys' lives despite living in separate residences
