To whom it may concern and my Central family,
Hello everyone! I appreciate this opportunity to brag about myself and hopefully get you to like me a little more. I'm going to start out with a little bit of my personal life and who I am. I was born and grew up on a couple of Air Force bases. My dad is retired Air Force and my mother is a retired social worker. My father was a very stern and respected/ respectful man. He still is a Decon of his church. My mother is extremely nice, supportive, and plays the piano in church. Yes, I grew up in church. Hard to tell, I know. My dad taught me a lot of what I know today. I learned how to turn wrenches and build at a young age. My father was all about work ethic. Being responsible, accountable, on time, honest, and doing your best. He taught me to be a finder, not a looker. He would send me to get something and I'd come back with nothing. He'd say, " If I go and find it I'm going to whoop your butt! " Well.. I went and found it. I grew up in Great Falls, Loving baseball, fishing, bicycling, motorcycles, horseback riding, hunting, camping, and working on cars. In the beginning I did some schooling and decided to go get into a trades. I took a leap of faith and went for a free trade school, Job Corps. Next thing i knew on a plane to Weber Basin Job Corps in Ogden Utah. I was by myself, didn't know anyone. Instant change of life with a lot of structure. While there I learned my trade of welding and I made the team to do wild fire suppression. I quickly became the shop foreman and president of my dorm. I was in charge of 80 people in my dorm and 40 in the shop. Two big, yet great responsibilities! After 2 years I graduated. My little brother was working for Central and put a good word in for me. I called Mr. Waldenberg and he hired me over the phone! Exciting! On to life!
The next thing I'd like to talk about is the thing I am most proud of, my family! I've been married to my beautiful wife Sarah for 24 years now. We met when I was a sophomore and she was in 8th grade. I was the cool kid that would pick her up from middle school in my 1965 GMC suburban. STUD! I'm the extremely proud father of 3 beautiful and wonderful young ladies! Desiree is 28 and almost finished with her degree at U of M. Elizabeth is 24 and is almost finished with her degree at MSU. Taylar is 18 and just started college in Idaho at the University of Idaho. What? Why? I don't know. They are all great, respectful, and talented young ladies! I could write all day but, onto me.
As I said previously, MW hired me right out of Job Corps. I remember my first day. I went to his office and did the paperwork. Then I got the grand tour of the shop. We where walking so fast! Mike stopped and turned around and said," walk fast! If you can't keep up with me, you might as well get in your truck and leave! This is how you walk on a job site"! I said yes sir and I was on my way to the truck. Just kidding. I headed to the job site. My first foreman was Rod Peck. I was a plumber helper. We where building the new Emergency Department at Benefis, yes, the one I just remodeled. I worked as a plumber for a year or so when it was coming to an end. Rod said I was getting laid off or I could talk to the tinning foreman and see if he could use me. In steps Tim Miller. This guy was quite the character to say the least. We really got along great! He was a ASS but, i could see through it. He took me under he wing and taught me a lot. I give Tim Miller, Dave Chapman, Scott Deck, and Vince Charolton all the credit for teaching me. I took parts from all of them and created me. All these guy's taught me layout, organization, solutions to problems, and the logistics to it all. I really love being a Tinner! It's amazing to me to see all the great young men I've had the pleasure to train and work with. They have all turned out to be great, motivated, smart, independent men! I am proud of my Tinner family! Now I'm hoping to make them proud of what might be my next step with Team Central!
Now, some things I would like to bring to the team. I'll start with my positive attitude. While growing up in the trades I worked with screaming, yelling foreman. It motivates people but it slowly kills guy's attitudes and the work environment. I will continue to work on positive reinforcement in the field. I can handle problems, correct it, show you the right way and direction. Sometimes positive criticism with a solution opens a guys eyes and they will try harder to do it right. I always keep a happy job site. I believe everyone likes working for me and I plan to keep it that way! If you have a good conversation, proper guidance, and good instruction, you will get great results. Give them a ata-boy now and then. Thank them for a good days work.
Work ethic is another thing I bring to the team. I enjoy my job and it's challenges. I will work hard. I will take college courses to improve my computer skills. I am a thorough and organized person. I have no problem diving into a spec book or submittals. I realize there is always something that needs to be done. I will do my best.
I can't wait to learn the other side! Being in the field has been a huge challenge for the last 25 years. I have gotten to know it quite well. But, even after 25 years I still have re-teach myself on every job. Equipment and methods change every year. I am looking forward to the next challenge and chapter. I believe that I have the idea's, insight, and motivation to learn more and be a contributor to the Central Machine!
In closing, I want to thank everyone for this opportunity to further expand my knowledge and skills that will make Central and myself even better. I truly care about this company and it's future. I like the direction we are currently going with training, advising, and giving great ideas to our current and future foremen. The future is looking good, so let's make it GREAT!
Thank you all!
Sincerely,
Daniel Kleinschmidt
