I worked for Cor Enterprises for 22 years. Starting as a payroll and accounts receivable staff and after six years moved to Business Manager when my boss retired.
Cor Enterprises is a non-profit that works with adults with disabilities, most funding comes from State of Montana using medicare/medicaid funding from the federal government. The business office consisted of 3-4 staff including myself. So as you can imagine I was responsible for very simple tasks to complex tasks.
I was responsible for the following:
petty cash
client monies
accounts payable
accounts receivable
payroll
payroll tax filing and reports
bank reconciliation
credit card reconciliation
general journal entries
financial reports including balance sheet, income statement. Cash flow report was done by our auditors.
financial reporting to CEO and board of directors
assist in setting annual budgets
worked with auditors for annual audit preparing all documentation they required.
investment statement converted to our excel sheets for auditors

Our accounting was specialized for our funding - we used MITC and before that we used OSAS. Not well known to anyone outside this type of non-profit.
