  • Dave’s is a local sushi spot that has been around for almost 20 years serving the folks of Bozeman with great sushi and a chill vibe. My job most nights is take care of anything FOH whether that is greeting/seating guests or taking to-go orders and delivering them to the guests. Other duties are making sure the tables are set and clean stocking the restaurant with our hot soups and ramen broth, stocking our to go soy’s and tea’s, Serving our guests taking orders and making sure our chef’s have the information that they need to accurately roll for those in the restaurant.

  • Khaluna is a high class Laotian restaurant located in minneapolis minnesota. The idea of the restaurant is to make guests feel as if they are in a resort while in reality in the midst of a snowstorm. The service is top notch making guests feel comfortable, welcome, and get them as ready as they possibly can be for the food arriving shortly. My job was to make sure the server can have their full attention on their tables.
  • Food running (giving very detailed descriptions of the food as well as how to eat it, most of the food they served was traditional lao food that most minnesotans have never tried before)
  • Set/preset tables before during and after guests enter the restaurant
  • Khaluna is a multiple course restaurant so making sure all guests have the right amount of clean cutlery and plates was necessary

  • Checking in on the servers routinely making sure they aren’t too stressed and if so what you can do for them to ease their time on clock

Experiences

I spent a month working and living at a YMCA camp called Camp Icaghowan. The WLC program is designed to provide youth with a service learning program focused on developing their personal leadership style and character.  Week one is focused on service learning and leadership. Campers work together to complete a service project in partnership with our Property Manager. The next 10 days, campers help plan and participate in a week-long canoe trip where they learn leadership on trail. The 3rd and 4th week of this program is focused on leading activities and leading others. I was given a cabin with one other experienced counselor and spent the week learning how to communicate with all different ages and backgrounds.
