  • Coordinated replacements when teachers were sick, took time off or had outings.
  • Facilitated Professional Development for educators, coordinating mentoring duties of Newly Qualified/Recruited Educators. Served as a mentor for new teachers, providing guidance on classroom management strategies, teaching strategies as well as the school ethos.

  • Promoted a positive school climate by addressing behavioral issues proactively and implementing effective discipline policies.
  • In the recent years was given the role of DSO ensuring that all students and staff were emotionally, psychologically and physically safe. During this time I worked with the guidance teachers, school counsellor and school social worker to plan together ways to help students who were having difficulties at home or who for some reason had emotional difficulties.
  • Took part in various seminars (Linho in Portugal, Lubango in Africa and Rome in Italy) with the European Dorothean community to develop plans to promote St. Paula's mission. Collaborated with other deputy Heads from the primary schools to plan seminars for the Maltese educators to promote the Pia Opera which is St. Paula's mission.
  • Worked closely with the Head of school in organising activities centered around school development planning, recruitment, capacity building and timetabling.
  • Organised school examinations by setting exam timetables, exam supervision schedules, oral and listening comprehension exams as well as communicating with external agencies for national examinations such as ECDL, ICT C3, SPA in foreign languages.

Teacher

St. Dorothy's Senior School
09.1993 - 02.2015
  • I taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics to Year 9 to Year 11s at the start of my career. Then I focused on teaching Biology when students started choosing it as their science option. The students would start their Biology course in year 9 and I would prepare them for their O-level in year 11.
  • In my years of teaching I developed strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues by maintaining open lines of communication and fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • I learnt how to manage classroom behavior effectively by establishing clear expectations, keeping the students interested in the subject and dealing with issues in constructive ways.
  • I assessed student performance regularly using both formative and summative assessments.
  • I was always looking for new ways to keep my class engaged through the use of interactive teaching methods, such as the use of the interactive white board, group work, games, outings, field work, practicals and hands-on activities.
  • Differentiated my teaching to accommodate diverse learning needs, ensuring each student had an equal opportunity for success.
  • Organized extracurricular activities by being part of the Ekoskola team for a number of years. In the recent years of my teaching career I was part of the pastoral team where I used to organize prayer groups and prayer spaces for all the students at our school.
