I was re-engaged by the Directors of the Company on a project-based contract in order to assist with the audits and management accounts of selected Group companies covering FY2022.

At Miles Express I was responsible for the oversight of the company's financial transactions, adherence to reporting requirements and presenting findings to Management, tasks included:

• Preparation of periodic management accounts;
• Maintenance of purchases and sales ledgers;
• Preparation of financial reporting and other reports;
• Suppliers' statement reconciliations and monthly bank reconciliations;
• Supplier management and internal controls;
• Management of the audit process of multiple companies including liaising with the auditors;
• Supplier payments and monitoring of cash balances including liaising directly with the banks;
• Day to day accounting including intercompany accounting;
• Compilation and review of quarterly VAT returns;
• Trained staff members in various financial procedures.

Assisted the Head of Finance in the management of the Finance function, leading a team of 6 people. Main tasks included:

• Preparation of periodic management accounts of the Group companies;
• Maintenance of purchases and sales ledgers;
• Preparation of financial reporting and other reports including monthly analysis of business results and aircraft reconciliations;
• Suppliers' statement reconciliations and ongoing reviews of the monthly bank reconciliations;
• Supplier management and internal controls;
• Management of the audit process of multiple Group companies and liaising with auditors;
• Forecasting of cashflow and reporting of weekly cash balances;
• Day to day accounting including intercompany accounting;
• Compilation and review of quarterly VAT returns;
• Trained new and existing staff members in various financial procedures.

Formed part of the financial planning team. Main tasks included:

• Quarterly reporting of financial information to the Regulator;
• Month-end performance reporting to Vodafone Group;
• Preparation of the regulatory accounts as required by the Regulator using activity based costing methodology, including assistance throughout the audit process. This involved re-building a financial model supporting these set of accounts and liaising with key stakeholders to ensure the appropriate drivers are used;
• Integrating and validating financial and other data to support business case development;
• Analysis of the financial impact of a business case (e.g. the launch of a new product) and assistance in the decision making process including performing variance analysis;
• Post-launch analysis of the financial performance of business initiatives;
• Perform competitor analysis from published statistics and understand the main commercial drivers in the market;
• Assistance to the Financial Accounting team in month-end processes through the submission of KPIs to Vodafone Group, and monitoring of data quality processes;
• Maintain close liaison with the BI Team to identify ways of improving current processes.

Participated in a number of corporate finance engagements providing assistance to clients, including listed entities on the local stock exchange, with respect to:

• Valuations of businesses and equity interests;
• Valuations for financial reporting purposes;
• Financial projections;
• Raising debt and equity financing;
• Business planning;
• Financial modelling;
• Due diligence exercises;
• Impairment reviews;
• Valuations of financial instruments.
