RICO SUDA

Joined Corinthia Palace Hotel as a server/bartender as part of my LITP placement in my final Diploma year at the Malta Institute of Tourism Studies. Worked full time, where I gained great experience in dealing with customers, local and foreign alike.

I also helped in setting up for private functions and events as part of my Diploma in Events and Management.

This was the first time I got to understand first hand what catering in the hospitality industry was really like. During this time working for the summer was highly beneficial and made me decide to further my studies in Events.

• I was lucky to work at Pepe Nero for a whole summer
• This has given me the opportunity to feel and work in a restaurant environment
• I have gained experience in the kitchen and also with clients
• It has thought me how to work under pressure in the kitchen with food preparation and cooking, in having the food at the very best of standards
• Also dealing with clients as a server has made me gain even more experience in making sure that everything runs smoothly and to the client's expectations
• The school, Stella Maris College, Gzira in collaboration with various hotels in London, and after completing my VET Hospitality studies, I was chosen to participate in a one week program which has widened my knowledge and studies in this industry
• I was given the opportunity to see the day-to-day hotel operation in their various departments which included kitchen, events, bar tendering and housekeeping
• The different roles given in such well known hotels has added to my experience.
